Sketches + Photobooks

A couple of sketches for a recent client in Mexico
Arabic for "Silence is Golden"

I'm trying to get all my projects finished by March 14th - which is tight, but I enjoy being very busy. Gearing up for my trip to Houston is turning into a good motivator in terms of clearing my work load.
The Modus Lotus web store is launching next week! Lots of amazing original artwork + prints will be available for purchase. Some of the pieces were featured in our first exhibition Pop Euphoria this winter, as well as some new works by our friend Manifest Desitute. So please, don't get cheap repros from a department store - adopt some real art! More on that soon!

Oh the pink ... it burns the eyes

I love photobooks of apartments ... I don't know why; but I get a kick out of small-space design aesthetic.
I was a little disappointed that the 2009 "CUTiE Area" book was so similar to the others, but it's fun to look through nonetheless.

I've lived in the North East my whole life; it's been either Massachusetts or New York, and I can safely say despite my steadfast love of sledding; I want this winter to be OVER. Gah.

In Social Butterfly News ...

This past week has been pretty much a giantic whirlwind.

After hours of plugging away on numerous projects (all of which have the same deadline), every moment Andy and I didn't spend working we spent hopping all over town. We didn't really get to spend Valentine's Day together, so we went to a His & Her's Double Feature at Showcase : Taken & SlumDog Millionaire - both of which were much better than the other originally thought. We left the theater with finger-guns blazing and Indian music in our heads.

We ate the World's Greatest Dessert: BAKED ALASKA! The Broadway finally had some left! {probably because it's so hard to make}

We went out for b.Good with the B.Good Girl + friends, I finally got to see Alexa cheerlead (Happy Birthday, girl) went to Elaine's surprise party at Roma's, listened to some awful coffeehouse perfomances, and currently having an Oscar party with buffalo wings. (Which I'm told helps a hangover)

And now, if you'll excuse me, I must stop blogging and get back to work!

Progress on Aura painting

Working on lots of projects lately; a 22 page comic, the Flash Gordon series, portraits, a tattoo design and hopefully some new paintings for the Illustration competition season. All of which need to be done before my trip to Houston, TX this March. Phew ...

In other news ...

Andy and I are working our way through all of The Office seasons thanks to Netflix. Unfortunately, we're also watching the newest episodes so... uh, it kinda spoils... everything. But we like watching whole seasons of TV shows on DVD: no commercials or waiting weeks at a time for the next chapter.

Happy One Year Anniversary....

to me & my laptop! YAY!

Oh Sony VAIO, you have been there for me no matter what ... you are all white and sleek and make my friends think you are a MacBook.

Going away for Valentine's! So working on pages aaaallll day today

Since the Notorious B.I.G movie was released recently, I thought it appropriate to post a newly accquired art piece for my esteemed collection:

BIGGIE!

This stencil piece was done by Keenan Cassidy - a buddy and student of mine at the museum.
He's only 14! But he's super cool, and you'll be seeing more from him in art circles as he gets older.

Basil watches you creepily from our lifesize Frankenstein monster in the kitchen

It was unseasonably warm today! Finally! After endless single-digit degree days...
