We're back!

 our little fun-fetti wedding cake

Hey friends!  ただいま!  I missed you!

Thank you so much for the kind words and congratulations - the wedding was really lovely and Japan was truly an adventure!

There's lots to be done - we have to hit the ground running!  Besides unpacking, cleaning the house and writing thank-yous, I'm currently wrapping up 5 more paintings to be sent out in 3 weeks to Gallery 1988 San Francisco for a show I'll be participating in with 3 other artists.  I've sent the first set on ahead, but have to get right to work on the last pieces - but feeling very inspired by Japan!

Jet-lag isn't so bad, we are pretty tired today, and suddenly New England humidity has hit so that's slowing us down.  It's great to be home for the New England foliage though! And Halloween!

Also - we have - no kidding here - 1200 pictures to go through between the wedding and honeymoon!  WHOA MAMA!  I'd estimate about 400 of them are really terrible burriness but I'll be sure to post the good stuff.  Japan posts will probably continue until, well New Years, haha

This week I'll get this blog really going - posting almost daily with sketches, photo, current artworks and the trip.  Wedding pictures next!

Much love,
Veronica

Big News!

I am so excited my friends, I am getting married on 10.10.10!

found this fence last week way out in Wendell, MA - it was fate

Amazingly, 3 days before our wedding, (tomorrow) we are finally able to take our engagement photos (haha) and I'll show you those as well.  Probably have mentioned how taking these pictures has been frought with disaster this whole year, so fingers crossed.

I've spent the last few days wrapping up other projects (thanks Jill, my intern for all the great work), sending paintings to San Francisco for my show in November, cleaning the house and re-designing the website Andy and I share here, at hebsandfish.com

We are driving down to Cape Cod literally right after attending another wedding on 10.09 - and setting up the beach house we rented for a very small gathering on the beach the next day.  I am so, so excited, I can't wait to tell you all about it and show you pictures.

Five&Ten, HBML + 6%DokiDoki

I absolutely love junk stores that are filled with things that are actually not junk.

La Jolie Fleur

I was recently contracted to design the brand identity of La Jolie Fleur - a new floral and French gifts boutique in Massachusetts.  The assignment was so fun - design around the idea of a French guy on a moped zipping around Paris delivering flowers. Chouette!

It started with these lovely flowers Andy suggested we grab from the supermarket [left], then I was suddenly gripped by the urge to go to a nursery and get these mini roses! [below]  And when that wasn't enough, I went back to Jolie Fleur to pick up a jade succulent that was calling to us.

Hopefully these are easy enough to care for that my terrible black thumb won't kill them... *knock on wood*  Either I water too much, or not enough or something - but these poor things always manage to die under my care.  (Sorry, plants)  But it's colder now anyway, so it could be just their time.

Dracula

My wonderful soon-to-be husband Andy has been diligently working on his opus DRACULA for sometime now.  I'm not just saying this because I'm marrying the guy in 8 days - but he is an absolutely insanely awesome writer.  Dracula was written by Bram Stoker, yes, but his version is really something special. (He sets it in 1931 instead of 1894)  Check it out!

If you are a comic book fan and read PREVIEWS - you can find us listed in the latest issue!

He asked me to be the colorist on this project, and I was happy to do so - since coloring is fun and relatively easy for me.  Here are some sample pages with my coloring and Andy's artwork:

I also came across an interesting Dracula-related tidbit from way back in 1972.  My old Illustration professor and I think now the Dean of School of Visual Arts, Thomas Woodruff, just happened to be in this dusty copy of Famous Monsters Magazine that Andy had lying around.  There he is at a Halloween party dressed as a vampire!  He looks the same!

Also with him at that party?  RON ENGLISH.   The master of contemporary pop fine art.

Halloween is coming - what will you be?  Andy suggested he be Captain America and I schlep it as sidekick Bucky Bucky.  Um - BUCKY DIES.  And no, I'm not being a little kid in a paperboy cap while Andy gets to be super buff with a cool shield.  No.
