Martha's Vineyard

Back from a crazy week, hoping to take it easy the next few days.

It's tough when you are traveling to go work.  We didnt get to see any of Martha's Vineyard, these pictures are just from the dock to the Vineyard Haven library.

It was pouring rain when we ran up the hill, and super hot and sunny on the way back - crazy weather!

Oh well!  Well be back some day!

Wood's Hole

This week was the busiest we've had in a long long time.

After having workshops booked every single day, and two on Saturday, we had a trip to the Emergency Room which took all night (1am - 7am - but don't worry everything is cool!) then leaving on zero sleep for Cape Cod to teach in Brewster...

Needless to say we are pretty tired.

But we're doing alright now that we got some sleep and breakfast (thank you Ambassador Inn) 12 hours to be precise (fell asleep at 5:30 pm, woke up at 5:30 am this morning.)

Now we're waiting for our ferry to Vineyard Haven to teach two more at the library there.

We're actually in the same area where they filmed Jaws!

If you've seen it may be you remember it also takes place 4th of July weekend....

"Brody we can't close the beaches!!"

"that's some bad hat, Harry"

So lately I've noticed I've been off my usual DC line up and making more Marvel / X-Men pieces for my usual Sunday night eBay art auction.

Psylocke is up tonight, ending next Sunday, but below are some previous weeks

What I've been up to...

this month...

  • Making comics, commissions + paintings for galleries
  • Star Trek Convention and meeting Shatner + LeVar Burton
  • listening to Talking Heads, St. Vincent, Enon, Cibo Matto...
  • growing things in the garden like lettuce, lavender + tomatoes

Actually I've been making a lot of new art which I still can't show yet
- but will soon!   Promise!

I know it's like, is this an art blog or...?

Well it's a mish-mash of things since my life isn't 100% art all the time.

Road to Nowhere

Talking Heads "Road to Nowhere"

As my birthday approaches (wow, tomorrow already...) I can't help but reflect on my life, my choices, and the wonderful people that are responsible for so much happiness in my life.

The Talking Heads (one of my all-time favorite bands e.v.e.r) have lots of songs about life, but this is my favorite right now, and what I've been listening to quite a bit.

Life is a road to nowhere, isn't it?

But that's perfectly fine.

At the end of your life, what do you have to show for it?

It's the things you didn't realize you'd be collecting on your way through it; the struggles that define you, the connections you make with people living and dead, the love that you find.

(Thank you, Nancy + Jim Ferguson) in Marblehead, MA

NASA Day / "Touch Tomorrow" Robot exhibition at WPI

Worcester PolyTechnical Institute

lovely nursery in Lunenburg, MA

I have so much work to do this summer it's just nutty!

Sorry for the lack of artwork updates - I've been so bogged down with commission work, client work + projects I can't reveal yet, there is not much for me to blog except daily living and show more pictures from the month in Japan.

I'm hoping after these big projects are wrapped up, I can do a huge website update (it desperately needs it!) and get back on Frankenstein 1921 now that I have some free time.  Issue #3 is so close to being done, just need to really put the last few hours in.

Oh my god, I just realized my birthday is this Wednesday!  Whoa!

That means my family is going to come over, better prepare myself ;)

in Marblehead

Heading to Marblehead for the next few days to talk to school kids about Graphic Novels, Video Game Concept Art + being an artist for a living!

We love visiting this amazing library + school system, the kids and the staff are always super cool, we love to visit!

We'll probably make a point to have dinner in Salem and take a walk to the North Shore to watch the waves crash on the rocks.

Bits from the Week

Had a lovely brunch at Lucky's with my mom, then threw her a mini surprise party for her birthday.  We drew faces on the balloons, named them, and had some white wine and golden cake with Reese's jammed in the top.

Went to the new location of Grime, Molly's amazing thrift store in Worcester, MA where you can see one of my art pieces she now owns (I love seeing where my work lives now... after it leaves my studio...)

Went on a hike with my dad and sister on Memorial Day, trekked up Watatic Mountain and enjoyed some maple walnut ice cream and good conversation.
