Last Halloween

Here's what Andy's teen video game development class did last Halloween, when the holiday fell on a Thursday.

We had just watched the great documentary "Beauty is Embarrassing" about the artist Wayne White.  He also does a similar project with a high school - and we thought, let's totally make that happen!

The kids did a stellar job:

"Agatha and Courtesan au Chocolat" for Bad Dads V at Spoke Art Gallery

I had so much fun creating this piece for Spoke Art's annual Wes Anderson inspired art exhibition.

After some nice email exchanged with my grandfather (who is a film afficionado and sees everything before I do) told me what a gem 'The Grand Budapest Hotel' was, and he was right.  He said "I enjoyed the hyperboles offered" - great line, grampa.

The movie was so beautiful and the story was so well-told, I had to do it.  "Rushmore" is my favorite Wes Anderson movie, but now they are tied...

I had another idea about all the hotel keys representing people but since I only had 2 days in my schedule to paint this, had to scrap it at the last minute for something I could complete faster.

Anyway, I think I'm going to continue this painting-the-frame concept.  Looking at some William Bradley art recently and got inspired.

So here is a painting inspired by both the Irish baker Agatha and the painting from the movie "Boy with Apple" :)

Challenger Kickstarter is up!

Above is the cover I did for the first issue of "Challenger", for Kristopher Waddell and Mirror Comics in Toronto which officially launched it's Kickstarter fundraiser today.

I originally did the interior art for issue 1 waaaay back in 2009 - WOW.  So let's all keep that in mind…

But I really had so much fun working on this project and I'm currently working on issues 2 + 3 - woohoo!

So the art may look different in issues 2 and 3, but I'm hoping in a positive way.

This cover was super fun to do - if you are interested in buying the original ink drawing of the cover you can contact me :)

The fundraiser ends on November 7th.  Thanks for checking it out!

For $15 you get a digital copy of the comic + a random 3x3 sketch by me

For $50 you get the graphic novel and a sketch by me

New "After Party" prints x Happy October!

Happy October!

Every year I watch lots of artists participate in "INKTOBER" and finally I'm joining in.
Also going to try and get back into blogging!  Been so busy with projects and home renovations it's been on the back burner almost this whole year it seems.

I updated an old artwork of mine called "The After Party" and added it to my Nuvango store.

You can find this image now on iPhone cases ( 4 - the new 6), laptop skins, Kindle cases as well as art prints.
